The title derives from the Latin auditorium: a place dedicated to attentive listening and shared inquiry. Auditorvm reinterprets this idea as a contemporary performance format. It is neither a sound bath nor a conventional concert, but a composed listening environment in which audiences are free to lie down, sit, or observe. Each mode of engagement is equally valid, allowing listeners to experience the work according to their own physical and perceptual needs.
The composition is based on the principles of the Cosmic Octave, approached through the discipline of classical musicianship. Each gong functions as an individual musical voice, with a harmonic structure derived from its overtone spectrum and a specific role within the overall dramaturgy. Rather than relying on improvisation, the sixty-minute performance follows a carefully constructed compositional arc in which harmonic tension gradually resolves into states of openness and rest.
Auditorivm investigates how harmonic relationships, resonance, and temporal structure shape the experience of listening. The work proposes listening as an embodied, attentive practice, positioning sound as a medium through which perception, presence, and collective attention can be explored.
